Application / Design Power Engineer
Job Description:
- Creates power products architecture, power system configuration, detailed engineering drawings, schematics, BOM and product maintenance.
- Participates in concept and design activities for power systems, distribution cabinets, installation package.
- Creates installation, operation and maintenance manuals, data sheets, configuration guides, specifications, etc.
- Makes strategic recommendations during product planning stages.
- Performs assessment of competitive products for market positioning.
- Technical/Product support to sales, production , and other departments
- Create effective sales tools and data bases on an ad hoc basis
- Attend trade shows as required.
- Responsible to provide technical support to customers using 24 hrs service line or cost effective site visit (if required.)
- Trouble shooting as required on customer premises.
- Other tasks as required to support customer base, sales, marketing, production and engineering
Skills and Requirements:
- Education
- BSEE degree and/or Business degree. Will accept equivalent experience.
- Experience
- 5+ years experience in an electronics manufacturing environment, with 2+ years in power supplies. 2 - 5 years of sales experience, and 2 - 5 years of marketing experience
- In-depth knowledge of the AC-DC, DC-AC power supply market for Telecom/Utility and Industrial market.
- Ability to understand power supply technology specifically, rectifiers, inverters and battery chargers.
- Familiarity with electronic systems and power distribution.
- Familiarity with thermal analysis and structural analysis.
- Experience with mechanical qualification testing (shock, vibration, packaging).
- Knowledge of New Product Introduction processes (planning, design, qualification and release).
- Familiarity with production processes including metal fabrication, harnessing and crimping, welding, brazing and mechanical assembly.
- Excellent verbal/ written communication and team skills.
- Ability to work as an individual contributor as well as a team member on new product development projects.
- Experienced in analyzing competitive product information
- Computer-literate in the use of databases, spreadsheets and AutoCAD.
- Has experience in developing and presenting sales training programs
- 50% travel is required.
- Has a career background within the Power industry.
