In recent years, the number of HF chargers used for charging traction batteries has grown constantly. More and more customers are recognizing the benefits of the high efficiency, energy saving chargers.
BENNING, one of the leading companies for battery chargers, has developed and manufactured equipment using this technology for more than 25 years.
Equipment with highest energy efficiency
The new BELATRON compact series also features the high energy saving HF technology and complements the range of BELATRON HF charging systems from an economic point of view.
In HF technology, the AC power supply from the mains is converted efficiently into the DC power supply, which is required for charging batteries, using a switch-mode power unit. The high operating frequency of the switch-mode power unit decreases the size of the inductive and capacitive components (chokes, transformers and capacitors) used as well as increasing the energy efficiency compared with conventional 50 Hz technology by approx. 20 %. The compact and lightweight components reduce the volume and weight of the units by a factor of 4-5.
The energy label is used in EU countries to classify e.g. household, cooling and freezing appliances based on their energy efficiency into the energy classes A - G. Under the labeling scheme, class A represents appliances which are more efficient, i.e. with the best energy efficiency.
BELATRON compact chargers have low losses. They are very energy efficient and leading in terms of energy efficiency.
BELATRON compact chargers offer the following features:
- Fully automatic, energy saving and battery protective charging cycle with automatic equalizing charge
- The charging status light integrated in the charger shows the battery charging status from large distances
- Both open and sealed maintenance-free batteries can be charged
- Reduced energy consumption thanks to the highest possible efficiency factor and the optimum charging factor
- With pulse characteristic, the pump unit and the hose system on the battery are not needed because of the ionic electrolyte circulation
- Classic electrolyte circulation can be delivered as an option
On-board version
Due to their low weight and volume, BELATRON compact chargers are ideal for use as on-board chargers. For this application an enhanced version is available. The chargers are resistant to shock and vibration. On-board charger versions have a change-over contact for drive protection. The contact can be connected into the vehicle control circuit.
Battery controller BATCOM basic (option)
BATCOM basic receives, stores and transmits important operational data and battery states (e.g. battery temperature too low/too high, number of full charges, number of deep discharges, electrolyte level too low).
BATCOM basic is well adapted to constant use in tough operational conditions on the battery. The data is transmitted via radio to the respective BELATRON compact charger and can be read there with a PC / laptop.
The LED indicators on the BATCOM basic make it possible to determine easily and quickly the battery´s remaining capacity in four basic steps.
Using a special sensor, the BATCOM basic detects the electrolyte level in the battery and signals a too low level by means of a blue LED indicator lamp, which is situated on the front of the BELATRON compact charging system.
